The welcoming doors to Angels’ Place, Inc. first opened in 1984. A second center was opened in Swissvale in 1989 and a third center on the North Side in 1998. It has remained a beacon of hope for two generations of young people.
1984 Opened a temporary location in the Brookline Boulevard Presbyterian Church.
1986 Found a permanent home on Fordham Avenue in Brookline for the first center.
1989 Opened the second center, in Swissvale, and began renovations on this former
1991 Began strategic planning process.
1991 Completed Swissvale renovations.
1992 Began Brookline expansion renovations.
1993 Completed Brookline renovations.
1995 Launched 21st Century Campaign to establish a third center.
1997 Opened third center on the North Side of Pittsburgh.
1998 Renovated North Side Center.
1998 Completed the 21st Century Campaign successfully.
2004 Celebrated Twenty Years of Making Dreams Come True!
2006 NAEYC Accredited Brookline and Swissvale Centers.
2007 Approved for Educational Improvement Tax Credit donations from businesses,
which then receive state tax credits.
2007 Four teachers advance to the next higher level of education.
2007 Stakeholders Picnic.
2008 Founding Director Mary Winter retires and Michelle Smith Tipton becomes Executive Director.
2008 NAEYC accredited North Side center.
2009 Celebrated 25th Anniversary.
2010 New three year Strategic Plan created.
2011 NAEYC re-accreditation of Brookline and Swissvale Centers.
