WELCOME TO ANGELS' PLACE....A PLACE TO GROW

SERVING LOW INCOME, SINGLE, FULL-TIME STUDENT PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN SINCE 1984!

Angels' Place, Inc. is a total family development program for single, low-income, full-time student parents and their children.

Since 1984, we have provided these services at no cost to families enrolled: early childhood education, parenting classes, career exploration, tutoring, counseling, referrals and assistance with practical needs such as food, clothing and nursery supplies.  Our goal is to enable student parents to complete their education, secure lucrative employment and become independent, successful members of our community.

Our centers are open year-round Monday-Friday and are licensed by the state Department of Welfare. We have been awarded the highest designation of Four Stars by the Department of Welfare Child Care Quality Initiative, Keystone STARS.  All three of our centers are accredited by the prestigious National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Thanks to all who particpated in the Higmark Walk for a Healthy Community on May 30th.

Thanks to the efforts of each of the participants and supporters, Angels' Place was able to raise over $7,500 to help cover the cost of our summer childcare expenses.  This would have been impossible without the energy and help provided.

Thank you so much and we look forward to another exciting walk next year!

HOW YOU CAN GIVE TO ANGELS' PLACE INSTEAD OF PAYING STATE TAXES

The Commonwealth enacted the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program to allow businesses to support education in Pennsylvania. Angels' Place is included on the state's list of eligible scholarship organizations through which businesses can take advantage of the Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Tax Credit to make tax-advantaged contributions.  The scholarships go to eligible 3 - and 4- year olds enrolled at Angels' Place.

If a business owes $10,000 in state taxes it can contribute $10,000 to Angels' place in lieu of paying that tax money to the state, as long as the supply of tax credits has not been exhausted. There is a minimum of paperwork. A business is eligible to participate if it pays one of these state taxes:

Corporate Net Income Tax

Personal income tax on PA business income paid by sub-chapter S corporation shareholders or partnership partners and other small and medium-sized businesses

Capital Stock Franchise Tax

Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax

Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax

Insurance Premiums Tax

Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax

Also, some businesses contribute more than $10,000, and receive a tax credit equal to 90% of any additional amount.   For more information, please contact Meliza Jackson at Angels' Place (412) 321-4447, or access www.newPA.com/EITC.

We gratefully appreciate our six generous contributors who supported our 2008-2009 school year.  Each of these are noted below (in alphabetical order):

Allegheny Technologies, Inc.

First Commonwealth Bank
